Questions : What is NDA/NA?

Answer : The National Defence Academy is the Joint Services of the Indian Armed Forces. Recruitment of candidates to Army, Navy and Air force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA), is through National Defence Academy Entrance Exam which is held twice a year, generally in the month of April and Septemember. NDA exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Questions :Can we do graduation  while doing NDA Training?

Answer : Generally NDA training is of 4 years out of which 1 year is training at IMA which include physical training and later  on 4 years training at NDA (B.Tech). You can also complete M.Tech at NDA by extending more  one year. During these, there are several interviews and co-curricular activities at NDA training.

Questions : Why do you want to join defence?

Answer : Most regularly raised query for NDA NA applicants during the individual meeting is why do you want to be a part of defence sector.

Question : I have done 10+2 in Non-Medical. Can I appear NDA Exam?

Answer: To join NDA (National Defence Academy), one should appear in the entrance exam held by UPSC that is known as NDA Exam. It’s conducted twice in a year. It comprises of 3 levels – written examination, SSB and personal interview.

Question : May I know about the wings under NDA?

Answer:  3 wings come under NDA.  They are – Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Army.

Question : What are the no. of attempts for NDA Exam?

Answer: The age required for NDA Exam is 16.5 to 19 Years. So, at maximum, one candidate can apply three times for his exam.

Question : Are girls eligible for NDA?

Answer:  Till now, women are eligible for only short service commission (SSC), NDA train cadets for permanent commission in Army, Navy and Air Force.

Question : May I know selection criteria for NDA?

Answer:  It is based on written test & SSB interview. The exam constitutes of 2 Subjects – Math’s and general ability test and each subject is given 2/2 hours of time limit. Math’s contains 300 marks and general ability 600 marks.

Qualified candidates will be called for SSB. SSB procedure consists of stages:-

  • Stage – 1: Office Intelligence Rating (OIR)
  • Stage – 2:  Picture Perception Description Test (PPDT)
