  What is SSC

Staff Selection Commission of India, was established in the year 1975. The organization manages the recruitment for various posts in ministries and departments of Government of India. SSC recruits staff for Group C (non-technical) & Group B (non-gazetted both technical & non-technical) and for the subordinate offices. The commission conducts two examinations:

SSC CHSL: The SSC, Combined Higher Secondary Level, examination is conducted to make hiring for the posts of Data Entry Operator (DEO), Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant & Court Clerk.

The total number of vacancies in this category are 7,388 approximately. Vacancies for various posts in this bracket are:

Minimum Eligibility:

  • It is an undergraduate programme so, candidates who have passed 12th Class can apply for it.
  • Minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 27 years.

Application Fee:Candidates have to pay fee of Rs. 100, through challan at any SBI branch.

The examination is conducted on three levels and pattern is like:

  • 1st Step: Tier-1 Written Exam (Objective Type) (200 Marks) (Online Mode)
  • 2nd Step: Tier-2 Written Exam (Descriptive Type) (100 Marks) (Offline Mode)
  • 3rd Step: Tier-3 Skill Test / Typing Test (candidates who qualify the tier-2 exam will be called for Skill Test / Typing Test)

Tier 1 Examination:

The paper consist of 100 questions of a total of 200 marks. The duration of the exam is 1 hour 30 minutes. There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

The division of the examination paper has been done on the following basis:

  • Part I- General Intelligence which carries 50 marks.
  • Part II- English Language which carries 50n marks.
  • Part III- Quantitative aptitude which carries 50 marks.
  • Part IV- General Awareness which carries 50 marks.

Tier 2 Examination:

 The Exam is descriptive type and will be conducted offline through pen & paper mode and could be written in English and Hindi as well. The Candidates might be asked to write essay, précis, letters and application writing etc.

Exam carries 100 marks and exam duration will be 1 hour.

Tier-3 Skill Test / Typing Test:

Typing Test:

  • The minimum Criteria to pass an English typing test is with a 35 words per minute.
  • The minimum Criteria to pass a Hindi typing test is with a speed of 30 words per minute.

Skill Test:

Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on computer. Skill test will be applicable only for Data Entry Operator post.
